Story Theatre Performance

Tuesday June 28 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Celebrate the kick-off of the BC Summer Reading Club with a live performance of ‘1002 Nights’ from Victoria’s Story Theatre. Everyone is welcome to drop by the Library garden to enjoy this fun, interactive, and entertaining performance.

1002 Nights:

Scheherazade and Dunyazad live with (and in! and through!) stories. When their sleep is disturbed by a Poet’s nocturnal lament, they go forth into the unknown with nothing but each other and their stories. With poetry, songs, storytelling and some good jokes, the adventure leads them to the source of the heartbroken sobs that wracks the Kingdom nightly. They are the wails of a young Prince, conflicted by duty, looking for the freedom to be themselves. Do Scheherazade’s stories have the power to save them?

1002 Nights is a new Canadian play written by Persian-Canadian playwright Izad Etemadi, with design by Sophie Fuldauer. The upbeat production showcases stories from the seminal collection 1,001 Nights and also features pop music, puppetry and poems by Rumi.
