Programs for School Aged Kids

BC Summer Reading Club

The Fernie Heritage Library invites you to Crack the Case this summer with the BC Summer Reading Club! The BC Summer Reading Club is a free literacy program designed to engage school-aged children, ages 7-12, with libraries and reading. Starting on 7 July until 27 August registered children will be led by our Summer Programmer Sasha, with weekly online and outdoor activities (as permitted), and contests.

Regular reading through the summer helps children maintain or improve reading skills whole school is out. When they join the BC Summer Reading Club, children are encouraged to read whatever they wish (story books, information books, even comic books!), in whatever language they feel most comfortable. They can also listen to someone else read aloud or tell stories.

The Fernie Heritage Library is sponsoring the BC Summer Reading Club, in cooperation with the British Columber Library Association, with funding from the Libraries Branch, BC Ministry of Education, and the RBC Foundation. For more information, and to learn about our other free summer activities, please contact the Fernie Heritage Library, or check our Facebook or Instagram.
