3D Printing

Who can use?
– FHL library card holders in good standing
– Users under 16 years of age require their guardian to submit their file for printing
– You must first attent a slicing meeting with one of our Tech Programmers at the library
– You (or your guardian) must have read and agree to all Tech Hub terms and conditions prior to using any Tech Hub space or equipment

How do I book?
Using our 3D printers is easy!

1) Design your own project at home or book a time to use our Creation Space and build your own 3D model.
2) Email fhlmakerspace@gmail.com and request time with a Tech Programmer to slice your project and ensure it meets our printing requirements.
3) We will notify you when your project is complete and ready for pick up.

Items that will not be printed
– Items that may infringe on another’s intellectual property rights or copyright law
– Illegal items such as weapons
– Items that are obscene or otherwise deemed contrary to the FHL terms of use and conduct rules
– Items that do not meet the printer’s size, weight, and materials limitations
– Items that require more than 6 hours to print
– Any item that in the opinion of FHL is contrary to our Tech Hub terms and conditions

Our equipment
– Two Lulzbot Mini 2 3D printers

– 0.5 mm single extrusion nozzle
– Polylactic Acid (PLA) based extrusion material
– Colours available: white, red, blue, yellow, grey, purple, orange
– Heated glass printing bed
– Maximum build size: 6.3 x 6.3 x 7.1 inches (160 x 160 x 180 mm)

– CURA LE (Lulzbot Edition) slicing software

Laser Cutting & Engraving

Book time to use our Laser Cutting and create unique projects, stylish etching and bring your sketches to life!

Who can use?
– FHL library card holders in good standing
– Users must be 18 and over to use the Laser cutter and must be accompanied by an FHL specialist when setting up your project
– You must have read and agree to all Tech Hub terms and conditions prior to using any Tech Hub space or equipment

How do I book?
– Design your own project at home or book a time to use our Creation Space and build your own vector graphics file
– You must first request time to review your project and materials with one of our Tech programmers
– Email fhlmakerspace@gmail.com and request time with a Tech Programmer. Please include the .SVG file you have created in your email request and let us know the specifications of the material you wish to cut/ etch
– We will notify you when you can come in and complete your project

How do I start cutting and engraving?
– Create an account on the Glowforge website
– You can design your project at home or use our creative tools in the Creation Space
– Upload your vector graphics file to the Glowforge website
– Choose your own materials and bring them with you when book time in our Fabrication Space
– We will have pre-scheduled dates and times for use of our Laser Cutter.
– We will also be providing training sessions on how to use the Laser Cutter safely and what materials work best
